He will not attack unarmed ships (unless absolutely necessary or they're flying the Imperial colors).

Character History

As far back as he could remember, John Storm always wanted to be an Airship Pirate. Growing up in Isla Aether he had two passions, as many Skyfolk children did -- Flying and Airship Pirates. He built his first Microlite at the age of ten and was constantly modifying it, tinkering well into his teens. Then he joined the Skyloft Air Marines, where he rose to the rank of Captain.

Then it all went wrong. The airship he was serving on, the SAS Tranquility got into a skirmish with the HMS Indifatigable, where she was destroyed and came crashing to the ground. He was the only survivor of the catastrophic wreck. With serious injuries he was saved from the mercy of the uber-beasts by the Western Camelops who he befriended, and from there made his way to High Tortuga, where he began building a piracy career of his own.

His first stop was getting himself a ship and a scurvy crew, but mostly the ship. There was a salvage yard owner outside Isla Aether that he visited. What he saw was the shell of a Tigerfish class pirate airship. While the Clockwork scrap dealer he bought it from insisted it was an unflyable derelict, Storm saw an airship that would fly steady and true...with a little love and a lot of work. Allowed use of whatever materials were at hand in the scrapyard, Storm was given a deal on the derelict and allowed to repair the vessel to flying order so he could make way to Isla Aether to complete his refurbishing...if he could afford it. She wasn't much to look at, but with time and enough love, the derelict, now named Tranquility in honor of his late service vessel, made way and soon found a salty crew, taking small odd jobs to earn enough money to outfit the airship for piracy. Captain Storm later heavily modified the ship, including Lightning Cannons and a rocket booster.

Character History
Yuri Xi Ling was born in the Dynasty Change City, in the very poor block. Due to her mother's exposure to toxins, Yuri was born as a sickly child and it was thought she would not survive. But Yuri proved many of the family wrong. It was noted her skin pigmentation was blue and when frightened she would blend in with the background, making it hard to find her when her father wanted to beat her. She also showed sheh ad quick reflexes and was a natural acrobatic.

She was sold into prostetution at the age of 14 to a local brothel as her parents were desperate for food and got good money as Yuri was considered unique. In the Peking Pleasure Palace, one of several in the poor blocks, Yuri was taught to dance and sing so as to entertain the wealthy Lords, especially the ones who had a fetish for the strange and unusual.

At 16 Yuri was noticed by the Chuno Ghun and was enlisted where she was given exclusive training in martial arts, weapons training and ship battle training. Her exsquisit beauty was used to entrap or assassinate Lords who might displease the emperor or to remove/assassinate a target who might be going against the set rules of the change city society.

At age 25 she was sent on a mission to assassinate a chinese Lord who it was rumored was going to be escaping Dynasty Change City, and making way for the nearby Sky City. Instead of killing him, she helped him to escape and became a hunted futigue herself.

She became his paid Consort and bodyguard for two years, until he was murdered by another Chuno Ghun agent, she was forced to flee the skycity she had recently called home. And now seeks a pirate ship in which offer her services to.

Character History
Myori was born to one of the smaller tribes out in the wilds. He grew up learning the dances, how to fix things and keep vehicles running, anything he could do to help the tribe. Once he hit his teen years he began to grow, both up and out. He excelled at the dances and once he was accepted, began to learn the Beast Dances. Due to his massive size and strength, he chose the Bear. Strong, noble and fierce, Myori fights with a strength and a grace many others could only dream of.

As his life went on, his tribe was thinned fighting the beasts out in the wilds and with a marriage his small tribe joined another. Used to a small, local family tribe once in the larger tribe he insulted the honor of a good standing warrior and was challenged. Myori won the challenge, but the family of the looser claimed he cheated, ruining his honor. To remain with the new tribe, the Chieftain saw an opportiunity to have the best warrior in the tribe on his side and swore Myori to be the Protector of his daughter Mizaru.

Where Mizaru goes, he goes. Where Mizaru works, he works. Myori swore and oath to give the life he would have lost to Mizaru and he will not fail in this mission.

I'm going to give it a Yes, but the Schtick isn't an individual thing, it's a pirate-only thing. Hence it doesn't apply to anyone not employed on pirate airships. But that's okay.

Character History – Adam Thurtea was created Adam 30 in the Everglade factory and placed in service as a Peeler. For years he serves well, never once questioning his orders. As the Air War for the Helium mines grew to a fevered pitch, he was reassigned to the HMS Imperial and fought in several skirmishes with Air Pirates. As was the practice, Automatons were hung over the side and dropped onto enemy airships as the Frigate flew by. On one such attack, Adam’s line was destroyed and he plummeted to the ground below.
Instead of lying broken and destroyed, Adam was found by one of the Barge folk and repaired. Since it took some time for the man to acquire all of the parts, Adam spent months with this family, seeing how they cared for one another, seeing the true dangers of the world outside the city. Adam had always hidden his Self-Awareness, but this family treated him more than a machine. They treated him like a man.
Once repaired, Adam returned to Everglade and began to tell other Automatons of his adventure. He kept it quiet enough to not be discovered and was placed on another ship. While serving orders came to attack a group of Barge folk that had snuck into the city and caused trouble, telling people the truth of the outside world. Adam did not know if it was the Barge folk that had saved him, but he did not care. Adam sabotaged the engines so the ship could not pursue. Once discovered he was taken back to Everglade and was sent to the Change Cage. Before they could put him on he escaped. The Barge folk helped him to leave the city and also took him to a place where an old IAN Frigate had crash landed. The engine was damaged and the Balloon and sails needed work, but the ship, the hull was intact. Adam and the Barge folk repaired the ship and got it airborne. It is not as strong or as powerful as IAN ships due to the lack of funds and materials, but it is still a strong ship that flies true and can take a pounding.
Now Adam makes his living as a smuggler and hopes to find some lost technologies to help the world fight the IAN and it’s leaders.

A rebuilt and refitted IAN Frigate, this vessel is surprisingly strong. What it lacks in maneuverability it makes up for in its ability to take a punishment. Not the best ship out there, it does what Captain Thrurtea needs it to do and that is all any Airship Pirate can ask for. More used as a smuggling ship than for Piracy, the Resurrection is a place where those that have lost themselves can be reborn.

I hate saying no to you, but Peelers would not be used by the military. They're not much more than robot cops. Their purpose is to police the cities, suppress dissent and generally make life Hell for the slum dwellers.

Also, Everglade, much like other Change Cage cities are designed to be nigh impossible to escape, much less get back into. I like a great deal of the profile, but there's some stuff that needs revision before I can stamp my approval.

I am going to debate this once, but first I will say I understand the reasoning for the denial, but I still wish to make a few points to try get the character approved as is.

Peelers would not be used by the military - Yes Peelers are cops, but it does state in your write up "Certain Automatons come with special talents according to their purpose. They can add more with modifications, but here are the Automata 'class' abilities for a starting character." I take this as since the NAS and the government see Automans as machines, they can be and are reprogrammed. If he was a good and violent Peeler, he could be reprogrammed to be a Battle Automan " to hunt together in the black frigates (large sleek airships, over the sides of which are hung Battle Automata and whose decks are filled with highly trained Chuno Ggun warriors)"

I know they are simple and I will gladly go into more detail with them. I am not planning on this character being a scourge to the NAS or the government. He is more just trying to survive outside the NAS.

Character History

Serabella is a Skyfolk, she was born on High Tortuga. There she plied her trade and her skills, in earning coin by repairing the various pirate ships that came in to port. She learned how to defend herself, and is quick with a pistol as she is quick to draw out a wrench or spanner.

When offered a position on the Tranquility to work as a full time ships engineer and inventor, she eagerly took the chance to take to the skies and see the world from high above.

Nora is a young Neobodian who has recently become a scout. She rides a beast she captured and managed to tame when the tribe is on the move. It is a Sabretooth. She takes her duties as a scout very seriously, as sometimes it can be a life or death matter of noticing anything that could endanger the tribe when on watch.

No they would not. Because doing so would be considered an attempt at Innovation, the highest crime in the Empire. This means your character would be deactivated and tossed into the Change Cage along with the guy who tried to refit him for such a purpose, or your character would be deactivated and tossed into the Cage while his reprogrammer would be exiled. Also, only the Chuno Ggun use Battle Automata. One of the perks of being Emperor Victor's personal army.

There IS a way: Escape. It's pretty much the only way.

Also, many years ago while the Empire was rounding up people to lock inside the walls of the Change Cage cities, there were free people who built floating platforms in order to escape this fate and since the Emperor's plate was full with building the Change Cage cities and herding what was left of mankind into them and since there was no Imperial Air Navy at the time, they were able to do so without much trouble (besides the inherent hardships of their new chosen way of life). These people became the Skyfolk.

Keep in mind that the Change Cage cities were built as a method of control to keep the remnants of humanity oppressed and ignorant of what's really going on beyond the walls. The whole idea of the Cities is to keep people in and new ideas out. While it's damn difficult (but possible) to escape, getting back in is reckless at best, insane at worst. Even the Bargefolk aren't allowed past the docks. The kind of dissent you're talking about him going back there to kick up is exactly the kind the city Administrators crack down on.

I appreciate that. Also, keep in mind that all Automatons are more like C-3P0 than Lt. Commander Data. The only exception are the Dolls and that's because they were designed to look human (with variable quality). I'm not coming down on you, just explaining.

Please though, go into more detail. I'd like to work this out with you and I know there's a middle ground we can reach for mutual satisfaction.

Character History Frederick started life inside the Neovictorian factories, built on special order with 31 others to join the black frigate ISS Lone Wolf. During a guerilla raid of a Skyloft farm platform Frederick was dropped to do as much damage as possible with the belief that he would be destroyed or damaged beyond recovery. Of course the Automata dropped were not informed of this plan and were destroyed, Frederick was damage leaving him to watch the Lone Wolf fly away leaving them to die.

That would have been his end if not for a crazy tinkerer who believed him able to be reprogrammed to be a protector. While the tinkerer worked Frederick was given much time to ponder his existence and future. would he remain a slave of new masters, would he rebel and follow his original purpose or would he escape and strike a new path. Near the end he had to make a decision and he revealed his sentience to the tinkerer; deciding to live for himself and not people who would leave him to be destroyed he worked with the farm for a few years to repay the good people.

Making his way to the nearest Skyloft city he went looking to become a mercenary or guard for a skyship as he had no skills other then the farm or battle.


Kev, I don't know much about this world and the other places didn't have much for the traits personal effects etc. so I filled as much as I could with what you had here.

The customary prefix for all Imperial Air Navy ships is HMS, but that's ok. As a Black Frigate, the Lone Wolf would be a Chuno Ggun vessel and I never thought about whether or not they'd be subject to the same prefixes as their Imperial Navy counterparts.

Don't worry about going in blind, Justin. All the reference materials you need are in this forum and if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.

Leanna was born into a skyfolk family, her father and airship captain. Her mother died when she was young and she was forced to live on her fathers ship. Where other girls woul have hated it, Leanna took to it like a duck to water. Standing near her father as much as she could, she learned to fly. The Airship, the dingies, anything that flew , she was a natural.

Now she is old enough to be on her own. Her father wants her on his ship, but he is overprotective of his only daughter and she wants to make her own way in the world. Running supplies is not her idea of fun or adventure, so she has eyes on finding a Pirate crew to sign on to.
